About Our Library

The Newport City Elementary School Library is open to all our students, staff, and family members from 8-4 weekdays.  Classes visit once a week for stories, "book talks", and information skills lessons, and we encourage both children and adults to visit whenever they have a minute to browse, sign out a book, ask for some recommendations
(book lists available, too).

Our collection of 11,000+ materials includes books and audio-visual items for parents and teachers as well as for the children.  Hope to see you at the Library!

What's New

Collections!!  We've been focusing on learning about each other's interests outside of school.  During September we displayed collections from many staff members who shared items from kaleidoscopes to pez containers, folk musical instruments to baskets to nutcrackers to fiesta ware to chairs!  An authentic collection of Civil War memorabilia was shared during Open House. The kids have been inspired to bring in their collections, which so far include rocks, foreign coins, state coins, disney pins, travel spoons, star wars figures, porcelain dolls, bouncy balls, sports cards and fantasy cards, video games, beach glass, amulets, and lots of beanie babies.  Watch for flamingoes to migrate north this winter!  Thanks to all who share their interests with our school community!

Author Visit.  Natalie Kinsey-Warnock will be visiting our school February 15, 2008.  We are very excited to welcome her and will be reading her wonderful family- and Northeast Kingdom-based stories this winter in preparation for her visit!
